New Painting and an Award!

My first group exhibit of the year is coming up very soon.  It will not be your usual stuffy old art exhibit.  This one will consist of work done entirely in purple and green, and no larger than 8 inches in any direction.  Doesn’t it sound fun?

Here is my first completed piece:

Untitled, 4" x 4", acrylic inks on paper, copyright Julie A. Brown

We are allowed to have small highlights of complimentary colours (besides the red is really red-violet, and the yellow has a decided violet overtone to it – it just doesn’t show in the photo) for any who feel obliged to comment on that!

This little guy doesn’t yet have a name.  I’d love to hear your suggestions!  Naming my paintings isn’t something that comes easily to me, so I welcome any ideas you have.

More about the show next week.

Also more fun news to share with you.  The copper and pearl ring I posted earlier won the Aspiring Metalsmith Team Challenge!  I was quite pleased about that.  Here it is again for those who missed it the first time:

I have it listed in my Etsy shop if you are interested in purchasing.

  • Love your little green flog! Unfortunately naming paintings isn’t something that comes easily to me either! Congrats on winning Aspiring Metalsmith Team Challenge! It’s a lovely piece!

  • Thank you Maria. I find the naming of my work to be the most difficult part of painting! Quite a chore, usually.
